AUM Athletics, College of Nursing and Health Sciences to Host Blood Drive

BY: Jessica AlldredgeMontgomery, Ala. Nov. 11, 2020 In a time where everyone needs a little help, there are a lot of ways that AUM students can provide that help. Students can find little ways to give back to the community. Sometimes that means giving of their time, and sometimes that means giving of themselves. In this case, students have a chance to give of themselves literally. AUM provides many opportunities throughout the year for students to get involved and help out their fellow man (or woman). This includes frequent blood drives on the main campus. There will be a blood drive on campus on Tuesday, November 17 from 10am to 4pm hosted by AUM Athletics and the College of Nursing and Health Sciences. Students wanting to donate blood will find the bloodmobile next to t...

Creating Healthy Relationships

BY: Jessica AlldredgeMontgomery, Ala. Oct. 31, 2020 Creating relationships as an adult can be difficult to do. It takes a lot of work and understanding of how to maintain relationships. You need to have a stable base in order to build a relationship, and that base needs to be healthy. Being a college student today means you have little time for relationships, so it’s good to know how to keep those relationships healthy so they last well into the future.AUM’s Counseling and Health Promotion Services will be offering a group session on Tuesdays during the month of November that will allow students to learn about relationships and how to grow them. These group sessions will start on November 3, 2020, at 3:30 pm.They will focus on skills for creating positive and healthy relat...

Theatre AUM and COVID 19

BY: Jayla BrownAUM’s campus looks completely different for everyone this semester. There has been a lot of change, which means a lot of adjusting to our “new normal”. This week I had the opportunity to catch up with Professor Neil Seibel about the changes happening in the theatre department. When asked about adjusting to COVID-19 guidelines here at AUM, Seibel said, “We are adjusting. Theatre and the arts have always been about adapting to the circumstances, so in an odd way our students were rather uniquely prepared to handle the shift to hybrid experience.” Many classes, activities, and club meetings on campus have been moved either strictly online or partially online. As for the theatre department, Seibel stated, “Instruction has moved to in-class and simulcast, m...

NCAA Makes Right Move with Eligibility Announcement

BY: Jason MartinIn the middle of all the uncertainty around college athletics as a result of the COVID-19 virus, the NCAA made the right move and shut down sports for the foreseeable future. One thing that had sports fans and student athletes concerned was the question surrounding students’ eligibility. There is a lot that goes into giving a student-athlete their eligibility back. Scholarships, incoming freshmen, and promised playing time makes for an interesting and difficult decision on how to continue with this decision.Winter sport athletes like basketball may have a more difficult time arguing an extra year of eligibility because their season was either over or ending within the next few weeks if the virus had not shut everything down. Spring sports, however, had major conce...
